Singer/songwriter of 2012 Hit Single "Somebody that I used to Know" - Gotye and his band, played for the finale to cap this year's Singapore leg of St. Jerome's Laneway Festival. Fortunately, the featured female vocalist for Gotye's hit single also performed in this Festival. About six-hours after her own set, Kimbra once again graced the stage with her enchanting vocals complementing Gotye's, to lead the crowd to the loudest sing-along song of the festival.

By the time Bat for Lashes was up next on Stage 2, I've already made up my mind to just shoot the bands that will play on Stage 2, instead of switching places between Stage 1 and 2 which was very tiring. I've slowly inched my way to the very first row, right at the metal barrier that separates the stage and the audience. I also waited by almost an hour for Yeasayer to finish their set on Stage 1 before Bat for Lashes played next.
∆ (pronounced Alt-J) are a British indie rock quartet, formed in 2007. Their debut album An Awesome Wave was released in May 2012 in Europe and September 2012 in the United States and won the 2012 British Mercury Prize. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alt-J I took a breather to rehydrate at the water station before New Zealander indie pop singer Kimbra began setting-up their instruments. What I didn't realize though was that, right after Japandroid's set on Stage 2 Kimbra's fans already started to pack the front rows even while Nicolas Jaar was still soundchecking on Stage 1. This just goes to show how much Kimbra's fans are willing to sacrifice just so they can see her up-close as they waited and stood under the sun for about an hour.
Of Monsters and Men is one of the bands that I was looking forward to seeing in this festival. It was during their time to play when I first made my move to try to squeeze into the crowd and get a better view.
The show has relatively just started and I still have enough energy, I was able to make my way up until the second row from the stage, I found a spot good enough to shoot in between the shoulders of the much taller blonde ladies in front. Those who were already in front have been standing there for about an hour even before the band has soundchecked their instruments at Stage 1 of the two stage set-up at The Meadow Garden. Japandroids is a Canadian rock duo from Vancouver, British Columbia. The group consists of Brian King (guitar, vocals) and David Prowse (drums, vocals). Formed in 2006, Japandroids rose to prominence in 2009 following the release of their debut album Post-Nothing. The group toured extensively throughout 2009–2010, earning praise for their energetic live performances. -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japandroids Cloud Nothings is an American indie-rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, founded by singer-songwriter Dylan Baldi. It consists of lead singer and guitarist Baldi, drummer Jayson Gerycz, guitarist Joe Boyer, and bassist TJ Duke. After at least half-an hour of queuing to the entrance I finally managed to get into The Meadow Garden, the venue of this year's Laneway festival. The first band I saw up-close at Laneway was the R&B/Electronic band from Minnesota with lady lead vocalist Channy Leaneagh.
