Pinoy Rock Jam in Singapore 03.03.12 *a Rock for a Cause Concert* Last Saturday, two of Philippine's most popular bands performed in Singapore for a standing room only
Filipino audience at Top 5 Bar, Orchard Towers. Brought here by Horton Entertainment and APO Alumni Association, the concert was headlined by Sandwich. The other band was 6cyclemind which played with 2 vocalists, Kean Cipriano of pop-rock band Callalily took turns on the mic with former 6cyclemind vocalist Ney Dimaculangan. |
The Main Event - Sandwich
Sandwich played one of their hit songs "Masilungan", with the help of the singing crowd in chorus at the "wala na tayong masilungan" part.
"naaalala kita pag umuulan"
The next song kept the audience participation going as they played "Sembreak", which is a song Raimund wrote while he was with the Eraserheads.
With all the taller photographers on my left standing up to take a shot I couldn't get a clear view, so I made use of my 60D's flipping LCD to shoot in Live view mode, raised up my camera and shoot from the top, over the other photographers' heads.

and here comes the gate crashers ...
Were you born to resist, or be abused?
SURPRISE! surprise!
Parokya ni Edgar is in town!
They were here supposedly to watch the March 2 Foo Fighters concert but then it was cancelled. So apparently, PNE just toured around Singapore over the weekend instead, and then decided to drop by the orchard towers to jam with Sandwich.
They've actually tweeted that they're going to watch this concert before coming to Singapore, so I don't think their guest appearance here wasn't choreographed.
Together with Sandwich they brought the house down by playing "Laklak" which is a song from Sandwich drummer Mike Dizon's former band, The Teeth.

one thing i learned here is that i think i shouldn't get carried away too much, until I really get into the hang of this concert photography thing.
i say this because when parokya came out, i lost focus. I even forgot to switch lenses for the wide shots. I need to calm down I little bit.
for this show I packed 3 lenses, a 50mm f1.8, 85mm f1.8, and 17-50mm f2.8. But when I got too excited I forgot to at least shuffle my lenses to get varying shots.
So, when parokya came out I got stuck with my zoom lens, and I even left my settings to aperture priority.
And then my luck ran out and got booted out of the front rows.
