The Press Conference for the stacked Pacific Xtreme Combat, PXC 35 card was held at Max's Restaurant in Scout Tuazon Rd., Quezon City, Philippines on February 14, 2013. It was well attended by the people from the Media, as PXC CEO & Promoter EJ Calvo talked about this up-coming event wherein PXC looks to kick things off for the year 2013 with a bang.
It is the 35th event for the Guam-Philippines based MMA organization, and its 8th Philippines installment overall. In the organization's first event of the year, they've stacked this card with a balanced mix of rising stars from the Philippines, and brought in top MMA prospects and veteran fighters from Japan, Guam, Hawaii, and California, USA.
EJ Calvo said that as much as he hates bringing up Harris Sarmiento's last fight in PXC 34, the CEO told the media how the PXC35 Lightweight title match-up came about. Shortly after his fight at PXC34, where Harris Sarmiento dropped to 145lbs limit and lost in a non-title fight to a very tough wrestler Mark Striegl, the Lightweight Champion approached EJ Calvo and PXC VP & Match Maker Eli Monge and he was "adamant". Harris Sarmiento said he wants to "stand and bang with somebody". Also in the same PXC34 card last November 2012, Isiah Ordiz impressed the PXC top-honchos in his win against Tristan Arenal last year at the Araneta Coliseum. The challenger's agressive and exciting stand-up fighting style fits the bill to a T as he himself expects to stick to his gameplan and his strength in the striking department. Ordiz said he "would like to give Harris a good fight", and that he will bring the kind of fight that the champion wanted.
In knowing all these, it's pretty safe to say that MMA fans can expect nothing less than an exciting stand-up championship battle between these two Lightweights.
